Engineering- "The action of working artfully to create something."


Engineering is a scientific field and job that involves taking our scientific understanding from the natural world and using it to invent, design, build and solve problems to achieve a practical goal. The work of an engineer is to identify a problem and come up with a solution with the application of math and science.

  • Impact on Society-

Engineering has completely changed the world we live in. Inventions from a simple wheel to modern artificial intelligence, it has had a vast role in shaping the development and existence of mankind.


The advances in the medical field have been greatly improving. The equipment has greatly improved which helps in the detection and the curing of diseases. The production of medicines has also increased and the quality of medicines has also enhanced.


From cups and strings to landlines and smartphones, development due to engineering has been vital for the human race. It changed the way we do business and how we talk to our friends, families and strangers on a daily basis.


Steam or jet engines are all down to the hard work of engineers, and it has allowed business to work smarter and faster than ever before helping peoples reach the other side of the world in merely 24 hours. The infrastructure for developing houses and the materials used and material sciences have improved leading to stronger structural supports for different types of land.


The resources have been easier to obtain as the tools have been updated due to new advancements and have helped humans reach greater heights. Space exploration and finding new planets were possible only due to engineering. It has unlocked many possibilities like Mars being a potential home for the future.

  • The future of Engineering-

The current need of the hour is sustenance. Earth's resources are being depleted and there is a shortage of potable water. Innovation to help reduce consumption and find alternate sources of fuels and other natural resources. To innovate and create diff tools that can help us survive, and stop polluting the earth reducing global warming. Each branch of engineering has its own work for future sustenance.

Aeronautical Engineering -

  1. Faster planes run on new types of fuel.

  2. New propulsion systems that make flying cheaper and safer.

  3. Technological advances for space travel.

Agricultural Engineering -

  1. Mechatronics engineers will create better machines for harvesting crops.

  2. Horizontal facilities can be replaced with vertical structures that process food.

  3. Energy use will be more efficient and waste will be recycled in new ways.

Biomedical Engineering -

  1. Improved imaging techniques for faster diagnosis of illness.

  2. Refined bionic implants that are more accessible to all who need them.

  3. An even better understanding of the brain and human body.

Chemical Engineering -

  1. More efficient systems for fuel development.

  2. Artificial blood.

  3. Biodegradable plastics / Chemical-based materials.

Civil Engineering -

  1. Cater to newer technologies such as self-driving cars.

  2. Make larger skyscrapers to accommodate large people in one workplace.

  3. To make more efficient use of electricity and water.

Electrical Engineering -

  1. Newer batteries and greener power systems.

  2. Faster and efficient wireless charging systems.

  3. New types of electrical cars.

Electronics Engineering -

  1. Shrinking headsets and glasses for virtual reality and augmented reality.

  2. Making the internet faster.

  3. Creating super-fast quantum computers.

Marine Engineering -

  1. Building structures that float and generating energy from ocean waves.

  2. Designing ships that cause less pollution.

  3. Building new submarines to explore the deeper parts of the ocean.

Materials Engineering -

  1. Lightweight materials used in the construction of spacecraft and space stations.

  2. New materials for efficient storage of energy and information.

  3. The emergence of tissue engineering and biomaterial design.

Mechanical Engineering -

  1. Perfecting forms of travel such as high-speed rail and vertical takeoff/landing aircraft.

  2. Highly specialized tools that are compact and efficient for applications ranging from art to medicine and beyond, to experiments done in space.

  3. Specialized tools and equipment for both personal use and important fields such as healthcare.

NanoEngineering -

  1. Be the basis for advanced medicine and treatments.

  2. Allow for the creation of complex hardware for advanced mechatronics applications.

  3. DNA synthesis.

Software Engineering -

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems will help people find information, complete tasks, and even solve complex problems that humans cannot.

  2. The creation of intricate virtual environments where people won’t only play games but will also work, research, and more.

  3. Programs that use historical data and real-time climatic analysis to more accurately predict weather patterns.

Space Engineering -

  1. Fabricating tools in space will allow for machines to be built that could never be built elsewhere due to gravity.

  2. Imaging will be further refined, allowing us to see deeper into space.

  3. Tools used in space for research will provide insights into the nature of the universe.

The best way to predict the future is to create it.

That is exactly what engineers do and therefore continue to push humanity towards greater heights. Engineering is a broad topic and there are plenty of details that help in the understanding of any topic. It is a topic that takes the theories from every field to prove it and make it a reality or rather show its practical application in the real world.
